Here is an example of a quotegraphic that I took from Facebook and redesigned for maximum visibility on Pinterest.
The short squat image is the one I discovered on Facebook. The tall thin graphic below that is the one I redesigned by cutting and pasting parts of the original image so it would be more visible on Pinterest.
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than the opposite. — Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom

Most graphics can be optimized for Facebook and Google+ (shorter, squatter) or for Pinterest (tall and thin). Sometimes when I create quotegraphics, I design two images to optimize for Facebook and Pinterest.
Most of the time, however, I try to create a design that will work well with all social networks. Such graphics are a little bit more vertical than horizontal but not as tall and thin as the graphic to the left.
